Disaster Preparedness and Environmental Conservation Program at Nagura Farm High School

Bangladesh is a natural disasters prone country. Various natural disasters including cyclones, floods, river erosion, droughts, earthquakes, etc. occur here almost regularly. It is very important to deal with these disasters, increase the capacity of students to prevent violence and abuse against girls during disasters, and to fulfill their responsibilities as volunteers during disasters. Our organization, ASED Habiganj, is working to create such an initiative. With the support of Malala Fund and Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE), this initiative is being implemented in Baniachang Upazila of Habiganj district through a project titled “Influence schools and sub-national and national decision makers towards a more gender-responsive, climate-resilient, and digitally-oriented secondary education environment in Bangladesh”. As part of this project, on 25 August 2025, a rally was held with the SMC, teachers, and students of Nagura Farm High School and toured the surrounding areas and a discussion meeting was held at the school. In addition, fruit and medicinal tree saplings are planted in the school premises.
